Yb:YAG - Ytterbium Doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet
Yb:YAG is an important laser active material.
Compared to Nd:YAG, Yb:YAG has a much higher absorption, a longer lifetime at the upper laser level, and a 3 to 4 times lower thermal load per unit pump power.

• Very low fractional heating, less than 11%
• Very high slope efficiency
• Broad absorption bands, about 8nm @940nm

• Conveniently pumped by reliable InGaAs diodes at 940 nm(or 970 nm)
• High thermal conductivity and large mechanical strength
• High optical quality
